In a Facebook post shared earlier this morning, Geoff Nelson, one of Elder Perry's grandsons, shared his thanks for members' kind thoughts, expressions of sympathy, and especially prayers on his family's behalf.
"It has been a great comfort to feel (in my admittedly very limited view) the flood of support, love and prayer regarding Elder Perry's life and service," he said. "Yesterday I wondered why my family and I have been so much more composed and at peace than I had expected. The impression then came, 'because millions of people are praying for you.' What a humbling and encouraging realization."
Nelson also shared a thought from his grandfather that has sustained him through this time. "It’s been helpful to keep in mind his [Elder Perry's] words, 'The Lord is very kind. Even though some experiences are hard, he floods your mind with memories and gives you other opportunities... Don’t spend a lot of time sulking over what you’ve lost. Get on with climbing the next mountain.'"
