From August 7 to 14, join volunteers from around the world by participating in FamilySearch’s 2015 worldwide indexing event, “Fuel the Find.”

The event’s website reads, “You have one week to participate by indexing one batch in the language of your choice . . . the goal is for 100,000 people to participate.”

On the event’s Facebook page, FamilySearch details further: “If you are fluent in French, Italian, Portuguese or Spanish—our focus languages for 2015—please help index records in one of those languages.”

“Last year we were blown away to see over 66,000 participants come together in a 24-hour period for the Worldwide Indexing Event. This year we are making it a whole week long and we’re going for a record of 100,000 volunteers (current one-week record: 91,721)!”

The post continues, “Here are some suggestions to avoid a possible system slowdown: download indexing batches ahead of time and work offline, avoid Sunday and Monday evenings, and invite new indexers to install the program before the event starts.”

LDS.org reports that "FamilySearch indexing is one of the largest and most successful volunteer transcription programs in history, with more than 1.3 billion records indexed since 2007."
