The LDS Millionaires Who Travel the World with Their Family Without Spending a Dime

The Gee family has spent the past year traveling the world, experiencing their bucket list, and living their dreams, all while not spending any money from their savings.

According to their blog, the Gee family started when Garret and Jessica met while serving missions for the Church in Vladivostok, Russia. After their missions, they dated and were married while attending BYU.

Business Insider reported that in 2014, Snapchat bought the mobile scanning app that Garret co-owned for $54 million. Garret then decided to quit working and save the money he received from the company sale. Then, as a family, the Gees sold all they owned to visit all the places on their bucket list with $45,000 they received from their big yard sale.

“We feel like we still have so much to learn about life and happiness before we can set up our future life and home,” says the Gee family on their blog. “That's why we started our family bucket list. We decided as a young family that now was the time to form healthy habits and create traditions that will hopefully shape us into better people the rest of our lives."

@garrettgee was just interviewed by Business Insider!! They shared our family story about why we started traveling, our history, and the financial details behind our family travels.. 🌏 Link to article in profile!! http://www.businessinsider.com/28-year-old-strategy-for-saving-snapchat-millions-2017-1 🌍 /// #family #bucketlist #adventure #explore #wanderlust #travel #vlog /// @garrettgee @settie4444 @dorothyseven @manillagee @thebucketlistfamily A photo posted by The Bucket List Family (@thebucketlistfamily) on Jan 12, 2017 at 4:23pm PST

Just as the $45,000 was about to be depleted, they started to get sponsors on social media because of their efforts in sharing their travel adventures on Instagram and YouTube. Because of their success on social media, they have been able to continue checking things off their bucket list without even dipping into their savings.

"Fortunately, about this same time, our social media began gaining enough traction that hotels, airlines, and other brands began working with us," Garret told Business Insider. "At first they were just offering us accommodations or flights in exchange for marketing exposure through our social media. But then, as our community continued to grow, they began paying us as well. Right before we had spent through our initial $45,000, we turned the corner and became profitable."

Now, “The Bucket List Family,” as they call themselves, continue to live their exciting lifestyle without a single worry. But to them, living the life they’ve dreamed includes more than just traveling the world and experiencing things for themselves.

Is Mykonos on your bucket list?? We are sad to be leaving. The Gees have shared their good fortune with others by giving free LASIK surgeries to some in need and a free trip to Disneyland for a family going through difficult times, according toPeople.

“[T]he feeling Garrett and I received afterwards ensured us that we had to continue this type of service throughout our lives,” Jessica told People. “We try and share and give gifts that we feel have greatly benefited our own lives.”

Their blog states, they “definitely have major goals behind [their] bucket list and travels:”

These goals include:

- Become closer in their marriage and family.

- Be good friends to the people in our lives.

- Live a life of service and compassion.

- Learn to find happiness with less.

- Become more open minded and open hearted.

- Love and respect nature and the planet.

- Create life-long memories.
