1 groundbreaking, 2 dedication dates set for new temples in Oregon, Brazil, and Ecuador

Willamette Valley Oregon Temple

A groundbreaking ceremony for the Willamette Valley Oregon Temple will be held on October 29, 2022. Elder Valeri V. Cordón, a General Authority Seventy who serves as first counselor in the Church’s North America West Area presidency, will preside.

Eugene, Oregon, was one of 20 temple sites announced at the end of the April 2021 general conference by President Nelson. The Willamette Valley Oregon Temple will be a single-story structure, roughly 30,000 square feet in size, built at the intersection of International Boulevard and Corporate Way in Springfield, Oregon, a suburb of Eugene. There are currently two other temples in Oregon: the Medford Oregon Temple and the Portland Oregon Temple.

Belém Brazil Temple

The Belém Brazil Temple will be dedicated on Sunday, November 20, 2022. A public open house will precede the dedication and run from Saturday, October 22 through Saturday, November 5. Elder Dale G. Renlund of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will preside the the temple’s dedication.

The temple in Belém will be the ninth completed temple in Brazil, following the temples in Campinas, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Manaus, Porto Alegre, Recife, Rio de Janeiro, and São Paulo, Brazil. Seven other temples in Brazil have been announced or are currently under construction.


Quito Ecuador Temple

The Quito Ecuador Temple will be dedicated on Sunday, November 20, 2022, as well. The temple will be open to the public from Friday, October 14 through Saturday, October 29. Elder Quentin L. Cook of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles will preside the the temple’s dedication.

The new temple in Quito will be the second temple in Ecuador, following the Guayaquil Ecuador Temple that was dedicated in 1999.
