9 games you’ll want to bring on your next family vacation

When David O. McKay became the ninth president of the Church in 1951, there were only eight operating temples. By the time of his death, the number of temples built or under construction was almost doubled. This focus on temple building came (1) from the realization that growing groups of members in the United States didn’t have access to temple blessings and (2) the desire to continue strengthening the kingdom in other parts of the world.

I was sixteen years of age when my father, my older brother, and I traveled to Yellowstone Park to see its sights for the first time. We camped for the night in a tent at Fishing Bridge, near the Yellowstone River. We had taken some fishing gear and were going to rise early to fish at the side of the river.

During his world tour, President Russell M. Nelson shared many inspiring messages with Latter-day Saints. While in Bengaluru, India, President Nelson shared with KSL the purpose of the gospel and his reason for traveling the world over: "The gospel of Jesus Christ has only one purpose, really, bottom line, and that's to make life better for people. And that's what we are going to do."

My wife, Shauna, was talking with a friend one morning when the conversation turned to children. The woman spoke rather unkindly about a family she knew and of the problems some of the daughters had had. "What kind of parents would let their children do such things?" the woman asked very pointedly. My wife timidly suggested that we really ought not make those kinds of judgments. The woman replied, "No, what I mean is, there's no way my children would ever do those things." Shauna responded, "I hope you're right. But I wouldn't say that if I were you. Children can change overnight."
