An Easter tradition to enjoy with loved ones who live far away

In lesser moments in my life—and perhaps in lesser moments in your life—I must admit I am sometimes tempted to be critical of the way that God is running the universe, at least our corner of it. I have a tendency occasionally to look heavenward and quote Shakespeare, and say as Macduff said, “Did heaven look on, and would not take their part?”

Mother and artist Kate Lee is one of the newest faces at Deseret Book. Her unique watercolor artwork is a beautiful display of her testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ and her love of family. We recently asked Lee about the inspiration behind her work and why she loves it.

About five years ago, Emily Belle Freeman and Nish Weiseth sat down to eat lunch together.

“We can feel the Lord hastening His work to gather Israel. And with this hastening comes the joyful imperative to simplify and focus," said Sister Michelle D. Despite their own personal struggles during hard economic times, members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Zimbabwe generously donated a small mountain of supplies, bedding and food to those suffering from the devastating effects of Cyclone Idai. High winds and floods have spread wide destruction throughout Manicaland, the eastern province of this southeastern African nation. Earlier the gigantic storm (described as the worst storm in history) had done similar damage in neighboring Mozambique and Malawi.

After BYU women's basketball team defeated Auburn to advance to the second round of the NCAA tournament, Sister Jean B. Bingham posted on Facebook, "Good for you, BYU women’s basketball team – you’ve won the first NCAA round! We’re cheering you on!"

In all of life’s activities, most of us fall into one of two categories: those that act and those that watch. When its time to make the homeward journey, you want to leave Alaska wondering how to make a return trip, and not so worried about what you may have missed.
