After 2-Year Break from Temple Announcements, President Monson Reveals 3 New Locations

In a surprise move during the Sunday morning session of general conference, President Thomas S. Monson announced three new temples to be built:

Abidjan, Ivory Coast

Bangkok, Thailand

Port-Au-Prince, Haiti

It has been two years since the Church has announced a new temple, as there has been a focus on finishing the 31 temples that are still under construction or undergoing renovation. 

In the time since the last announcement, the Church dedicated or rededicated four temples:

Gilbert Arizona Temple

Fort Lauderdale Florida Temple

Phoenix Arizona Temple

Ogden Utah Temple (rededicated)

An additional six temples are scheduled to be dedicated this year:

Córdoba Argentina Temple- Dedication May 17

Payson Utah Temple - Dedication June 7

Trujillo Peru Temple - Dedication June 21

Indianapolis Indiana Temple - Dedication August 23

Mexico City Mexico- Rededication September 13

Tijuana Mexico Temple - Dedication December 13
