Elder Larry J. Echo Hawk of the Quorum of the Seventy and member of the Pawnee Nation recently presented a book full of family history to Navajo Tribe President, Russell Begaye.

The book contained nearly 200 years of family history, reaching back to the 1820s of President Begaye's ancestry.

According to Mormon Newsroom, President Begaye said, "It’s really a special moment for our family and the Navajo Nation, [and] it’s really good to see the LDS Church reaching out," adding that he is excited to work with the Church in the future with family history and other projects.

Elder Echo Hawk also shared why such a detailed family history was presented to President Begaye and what this family history work means to the Church.

“Our mission is to gather family history information and to preserve those source records so that individuals will have access to find out what their relationships are,” Elder Echo Hawk said, according to Mormon Newsroom. “We then freely share these records any place in the world.”
