In October 2018, the four original Osmond brothers—Alan, Jay, Merrill, and Wayne—came together with Marie at an interfaith devotional in Hawaii. This event came in the midst of a series of health crises the Osmond family has experienced this past year, which Marie spoke to People about.

"It's been an interesting year," Marie understated. "My brother Virl has a stroke, my brother Tom had a quadruple bypass, Jimmy had a stroke, Donny, of course, is having surgery. I have had a lot of loss in my life and difficult things, and everybody does . . . but I have great faith."

Among these losses, Marie mentioned the loss of her son, adding, "Those are the things that really bite, and they determine who you are inside and what your belief structure is. I just know that death is more of a rebirth for me. They move on, and even though we miss them here, I know I will see them again. There is no question in my mind."
