A Mormon missionary serving in the Nigeria Calabar Mission passed away Dec. 26 after suffering a seizure in his sleep.

Elder Maxwell Adjei Arthur was from the Assin Foso Ghana Stake and had suffered from seizures since childhood, according to a Church statement.

“With sadness we announce the death of one of our young missionaries,” Daniel Woodruff, a spokesman for the Church, said in a statement issued Wednesday morning. ". . . We mourn with his family and loved ones and pray that they will be blessed with the comfort and peace of the Spirit as they remember him."

Our prayers are with Elder Arthur's family at this time.
