Next spring, for the first time since 1893, the Salt Lake Temple will be open for public tours. This event marks a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to help people learn about and tour the newly renovated temple, either in person at Temple Square or virtually.
Starting this summer, you can apply to volunteer during this historic celebration. Here’s what you need to know about getting involved.
How can I volunteer at the Salt Lake Temple Celebration?
Temple Square is looking for “exceptional volunteers who want to help guests feel welcomed, supported, and inspired throughout the celebration.”
Volunteers will support the guest experience as part of “the Rejoice Team,” helping with logistics like wayfinding, accessibility, and activities. There will also be volunteer opportunities for young performers, including as musicians, vocalists, and cultural performers.
You can submit volunteer applications online beginning in June 2026.
Who can apply to volunteer?
Anyone who is 16 or older is invited to apply for the Rejoice Team. Temple Square welcomes volunteer applicants from all backgrounds and experience levels.
Volunteers must complete training and be able to serve for a minimum of 8 weeks, taking 3- to 4-hour shifts once a week between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m. Most assignments are flexible and allow you to choose times that fit into your schedule.
You may need to stand for hours at a time during shifts, but some positions can accommodate accessibility needs. Temple Square’s website will have more details in June about specific roles.
When can guests start making reservations for the Salt Lake Temple Open House?
Reservations for public tours of the Salt Lake Temple will be available starting Tuesday, September 1, 2026. You can download and share the Temple Square App to book tours and events.
The Church invites everyone to join the celebration, even if they cannot attend in person. A virtual experience will make it possible for people worldwide to tour the Salt Lake Temple.
What else will happen during the celebration besides the open house?
In addition to tours of the Salt Lake Temple, the celebration will feature new exhibits, performances, special activities, feature films, and experiences on Temple Square. Guests can also reserve tickets for Music & the Spoken Word, tours through the Beehive and Lion House, and the Inside a Temple experience.
