On Wednesday afternoon, Church spokesman Eric Hawkins confirmed that President Thomas S. Monson is alive and continuing to rest and recover in the hospital, according to the Deseret News.

Recently, rumors have been spread online about President Monson's death, a fact Eric Hawkins said the Church is aware of.

Our prayers are with President Monson, we remember these wise words from President Russell M. Nelson:

"Imagine the privilege the Lord has given us of sustaining His prophet, whose counsel will be untainted, unvarnished, unmotivated by any personal aspiration, and utterly true! . . .

"Our sustaining of prophets is a personal commitment that we will do our utmost to uphold their prophetic priorities. Our sustaining is an oath-like indication that we recognize their calling as a prophet to be legitimate and binding upon us."

President Nelson also reminds us that along with the prophet, we sustain 14 other apostles of the Lord. "Think of that! We sustain 15 men as prophets of God! They hold all the priesthood keys that have ever been conferred upon man in this dispensation."
