The sacrament is a sacred ordinance and a vital part of our worship as Latter-day Saints. Because of this, it's important to realize its gravity and importance in our lives.

In a recent Facebook post, Elder Dale G. Renlund shared how partaking of the sacrament each week "is key to our faith in Jesus Christ" and the next ordinance every member needs.

Last week Ruth and I had the blessing of speaking at the MTC devotional. We found our hearts filled with hope for this world as we witnessed the miracle of young people being willing and eager to accept a call from God through His prophet and who have anxiously accepted an inspired assignment to anywhere in the world. We loved being with the missionaries!
We spoke with those missionaries about their responsibility to invite God’s children to “come unto Christ” through faith, repentance, baptism, and receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost (see Articles of Faith 1:4). We also mentioned that even after baptism, this same pattern is the way we continue to grow closer to Christ. Rather than being baptized over and over, however, we renew those promises through weekly partaking of the sacrament.
The sacrament is the next ordinance everyone needs after being confirmed a member of the Church. The sacrament is the next ordinance a man needs after receiving the Melchizedek Priesthood. The sacrament is the next ordinance individuals need after receiving the temple endowment. The sacrament is the next ordinance a couple needs after being sealed for time and all eternity in the temple.
The sacrament is the next ordinance you need. The sacrament is key to our faith in Jesus Christ, repenting of sin, and feeling the influence of the Holy Ghost in our lives. It is the mechanism by which we renew the covenants and blessings of baptism.
