LDS teen Luke Bennett was working at a Boy Scout camp last week when he fell about 40-feet, resulting in an injury that has left him without the use of his legs so far, but his family is hoping for the best.

Luke Bennett, 14, was working as a volunteer at Boy Scouts of America’s Camp Bartlett in Idaho last week when he fell as much as 40 feet from a tree.

“All of them were climbing the trees and things like that and he was like, ‘I can climb that tree,’” said Morgan Capener, Bennett’s sister.

Capener said Bennett suffered a burst fracture to his L1 vertebrae and his spine has since been fused in the area in a six-hour surgery.
