Darrin Steve Ivie, who was serving as the bishop of a ward in Veyo, Utah, was killed Saturday morning near St. George when his car drifted over the center line on state Route 18 and hit a semi truck head-on.

The police are investigating the reason for the crash. "It looks like [Ivie] was killed instantly," Utah Highway Patrol Sgt. Larry Mower told Saint George News. "The semi driver did say that he saw the driver of the pickup laying across the seat to the right. Don’t know if he had dropped something and was trying to retrieve it, or if he was having a medical condition or if he was falling asleep. At this point, we really don’t know. We’ll conduct our investigation and see if we can figure those things out and answer those questions.”

On his Facebook page, Ivie put a picture of his family as his cover image, writing, "Together is the best place to be. Love this group of people with all my heart." We are praying for Bishop Ivie's family.
