The First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has released the location of the Tacloban City Philippines Temple.

This house of the Lord will be built on a 6.99-acre site located at Tacloban Bypass Road Brgy. Utap-Caibaan, Tacloban City, Leyte, Philippines. Plans call for a two-story temple of approximately 21,407 square feet.

Tacloban is located on Leyte Island in the Eastern Visayas region of the Philippines.

President Russell M. Nelson announced this house of the Lord in October 2021. “I plead with you today to counter the lure of the world by making time for the Lord in your life—each and every day,” the prophet said before announcing 13 new temples, including the Tacloban City Philippines Temple.

Detailed design plans for this house of the Lord are still in development. Further information, such as exterior renderings and groundbreaking dates, will be made public later.

The first temple in the Philippines, the Manila Philippines Temple, was dedicated in 1984 by former Church President Gordon B. Hinckley (1910–2008).

In addition to the Tacloban City Temple, there are 12 other houses of the Lord announced, under construction or in operation in the Philippines: the Alabang, Bacolod, Cagayan de Oro, Cebu City, Davao, Iloilo, Laoag, Manila, Naga, Santiago, Tuguegarao City and Urdaneta Temples.
