New temple groundbreaking dates announced in Argentina, Nevada, and Colorado

Over the past weeks, three new temple groundbreaking ceremonies have been announced—the Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple, the Elko Nevada Temple, and the Grand Junction Colorado Temple.

The Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple was announced by President Russell M. Nelson in the April 2020 general conference, and both the Elko Nevada and Grand Junction Colorado Temples were announced in April 2021. Attendance at all three groundbreaking ceremonies will be by invitation only.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the new Bahía Blanca Argentina Temple will be held on Saturday, April 9, 2022. The single-story temple will be about 19,000 square feet in size and the grounds will also include a 25,000 square feet building on site with patron housing and a distribution center. This will be Argentina’s fifth temple, joining the list of temples in Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Salta, and Mendoza. Argentina is home to more than 470,000 Latter-day Saints and roughly 735 congregations.
