From July 15 to 17, FamilySearch International hosted the world’s largest known indexing event, bringing 116,475 people from around the globe together to save nearly 10.5 million of the world’s records by making them accessible online for future generations. The website states the videos were created "solely for the purpose of helping more people understand and appreciate the matchless life of Jesus Christ, the Son of God and Savior of the world."
The Distribution Services Division of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is making some changes designed to improve efficiency and better serve Church members. In an agreement announced today, Distribution Services is expanding an arrangement with Deseret Book to sell Church-produced materials through its stores. Six Deseret Book stores have been selling Church-produced materials and products since late 2009. Under the new agreement, Deseret Book will serve as an agent for Distribution Services and offer these materials at additional Deseret Book store locations according to prices and policies established by the Church. Both parties say the agreement will create a convenient shopping experience for customers and allow a more efficient use of Church resources.
Sister Holland shared her personal testimony of the Book of Mormon at the 2018 Mission Leadership Seminar. “Recently during a near-fatal illness I wanted Jeff and his priesthood to be with me constantly,” she said. “Because he couldn’t always be at my side, I wanted the next best thing. I wanted my Book of Mormon in my hands, holding it, and when I slept I wanted it under my pillow. With doctors telling us that I wasn’t going to make it. . . , I knew if I did live, it would be because of the blessings of the true gospel that the Book of Mormon teaches.” During the same seminar, Elder Holland also shared the greatest revelation God has ever given as well as the most important figure in the Book of Mormon.
Julia Larsen, an LDS teen from San Marcos, California, was diagnosed with brain cancer last November. A 17-year-old senior in high school, Larsen could have gone to amusement parks, met celebrities, or traveled across the world when the Make-A-Wish foundation gave her one wish, but she chose instead to spend that wish bringing fun and imagination into the lives of impoverished children.
