The announcement of seven new temples to be built across the world (three of which are the first in their countries) this conference was an exciting and historic message to many members—and it even fulfilled prophecy.
For many Latter-day Saints, the Gospel Library app has become an indispensable way to access LDS scriptures, videos, and inspiring content on the go, at church, or at home. With so much gospel content right at your fingertips, what better way to enhance your study of the scriptures than to download an app that lets you annotate, make notes, and access LDS content any moment you might have some downtime.
In a recent interview with the Mormon Channel "When Life Is Less Than Ideal," Sister Carole M. Stephens shared a surprising statistic:
Talk about an extended warranty! When we pay the price to have a marriage performed in the temple of the Lord, we come face to face and soul to soul with the actual meaning of the word endless. When I bought my printer from Office Max, I also purchased a plan to give me two years of protection in case the thing went south on me. Any significant investment of money creates a desire in us to enjoy some permanence. We are often willing to spend a little more to ensure that what we have labored and paid for will last a while.
If you follow me on Instagram, then you probably know that I have spent the last couple of days in The Big Apple – NYC. Yes, it is quite a jarring contrast to my peaceful weekend at home watching General Conference, but I still love this place.
I just reread a nine year old post from an LDS woman contemplating marriage to an inactive LDS man. Aside from his loss of conviction (or rather, testimony) that the gospel was true, she described their relationship as very good. According to her, he treated her very well and his values were in line with a Mormon lifestyle. She loved him and he loved her. She wanted to know if she should marry him. The response she got was an overwhelming NO. Which would have been my response, hands down, ten, twenty, thirty, forty years ago.
INTRODUCTION: It would be a mistake to over-simplify the restoration and purposes of the priesthood, but perhaps an analogy will help us understand what is happening.
The new Deseret Mill and Pasta plant, 20 miles north of Salt Lake City, Utah, was dedicated Thursday, February 26, 2015. It is a food production facility to provide some of the basic staples of life to those in need. Another important benefit, said Bishop Gérald Caussé, first counselor in the Presiding Bishopric of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is the opportunity for members of the Church and others to provide service.
Citing what he believes will be a “lasting effect for good,” Elder Todd B. Hansen, an Area Seventy and a resident of Gilbert, reflected upon the experiences he had personally and the many others he heard about during the 25 days of the Gilbert Arizona Temple public open house and a week of VIP and media tours prior to that.
Years ago I was asked to do a radio show for KSL/Bonneville Communications. At first my head said no—I was a stay-at-home mother and couldn’t do a daily 3–6 p.m. job. But my soul said, “Wait.” After agreeing to meet later to discuss it—and a great deal of prayer and confusion in between—I met with their representatives. Within five minutes of talking with those wonderful people I felt the answer. Being my bold self, I told them I couldn’t do what they were asking, but I could do 12–3 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, as that’s when my baby napped. I still remember them looking at each other as one said, “Job share.” And that’s what happened. Three hosts instead of one, all doing it part time so we could focus first on our families.
