Sometimes we may experience moments of spiritual distress, but that doesn't mean we have to experience those moments alone.

There's nothing like life in a large family. Everything is bigger and more when you've got a gaggle of kids living under one roof: the messes, the love, the noise, the stares from strangers.

After President Dieter F. Uchtdorf rededicated the Freiberg Germany Temple, one that stands a short distance from where President Uchtdorf was baptized as a young boy, he continued to travel around eastern Europe, visiting with members and sharing an important message—one he recently summarized on Facebook:

Many of my best childhood memories were with my Grandmother Hansen. Though she passed away a few years ago, she left a legacy of service for me and her posterity. When she wasn’t serving others, she was practicing hymns on her 100-year-old piano. The dark-wooded upright was ornately carved and was her most prized possession because it had belonged to her mother. The LDS hymn, Because I Have Been Given Much, is one that has always reminded me of Grandma because she played it often when I was young and revealed to me once that it was her favorite.

"It seems like there have been a lot of people lately who have turned their back on the things they believe in," Nik Day posted on his Facebook page. "As we go into 2017, let's remember what's really important, and hold on! Even if it's hard. #holdon"

Speaking of those in the Church who experience same-sex attraction, Elder Christofferson said, “Many wonder where their place is and what the Lord has for them, both in mortality and in the grand scheme of things.”

Never been much of a studier? Get ready to change that! Missionaries spend 2 to 3 hours studying depending on whether they’re learning a new language. New missionaries can expect to add an extra hour to that for companionship study with your trainer. Some missionaries have a hard time adjusting. It is a large chunk of your day after all, and you have to sit, be diligent and focus. It takes a lot of getting used to.

The crisp, fragrant fall air has us all enjoying the bounty of the harvest and looking forward to the holidays ahead. Along with the holidays come the many family recipes that we enjoy as traditions and comfort foods. Certainly, you will be taking stock of your kitchen and making sure you have the food prep tools necessary to get you through the next few months. As you think about updating or replacing some of your much needed food preparation tools, don’t forget to think about the items you could use for your preparedness pantry, too! For example, I’m a sucker for the aroma of fresh baked bread on a cool fall day. I’ll be using my electric wheat grinder quite a bit in the next few months. As I use my electric mill, I should certainly make sure that I’ve got something available to me should the electricity be turned off. A hand grain mill would be something I should certainly consider for preparedness food preparation.

The scriptures mention a multitude of different ways in which the Spirit can communicate with us. Many of these are in the D&C, but other volumes of the standard works also teach rich and rewarding lessons on this topic. In this lesson, I will try to give an overview of the many passages from the scriptures that suggest the different forms that inspiration and revelation can take.

Acting according to the Spirit is not always easy, and often requires significant sacrifice and, at times, deep obedience against the purely rational mind.
