We've become curious about how home and visiting teaching play out in real life. For me, I call it good when my visiting teachers come over and sit at the kitchen counter while I cook Sunday dinner and we chat about work, kids, school, and life. Sometimes they share a quick message, sometimes they don't, but I always feel loved. It's funny, on the Sundays they come over, the whole family gathers in the kitchen to be involved because the informality of it makes it fun.
For some deaf recipients of cochlear implants, it can take up to 10 years to learn to distinguish sounds and to speak. But for Emily Thomas, from Oklahoma, it was a miraculously short period of less than two years — years that coincided with her finding the gospel and deciding that God’s gift of words to her was a sacred trust. In this audio interview with Thomas, a professional counselor who has been deaf since birth, you’ll learn three things deaf church members wish hearing members understood about them, hear a remarkable story of the gospel of Jesus Christ bringing a family together after a decade and generally bask in the glow of someone full of the light of the Lord.

Major Mike Stannett, leader of the Salvation Army in Belgium, took notice of their efforts and came together with these Saints to collect the care packages they created for refugees. "It's great that people of faith can work together in partnership for the need of other people," Stannett observes.

I am a Sunday School teacher. And as the old hymn says, that means I try to “labor with care.”
Making and keeping promises is a highly valued trait in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In fact, the first official act of every member of the Church (sometimes inadvertently called “Mormons”) when we are baptized is to make a covenant—a two-way promise with our Heavenly Father—to live as He has directed through the example of His Son. In return, God promises that His Spirit will be with us always.
