Though the particular date it was written and the events that inspired "The Spirit of God" are unknown, there are many miraculous and incredible stories behind this beloved song and its author, William Wines Phelps, that have lead it to become one of the most recognizable and beloved Latter-day Saint hymns.

This sharing time will engage the children in an activity that will help them learn more about the first principles and ordinances of the gospel.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will restore a historic site in Pennsylvania that played a significant role in the growth of the Church from humble beginnings to a worldwide faith with 14 million members. Formerly known as the town of Harmony, the site is in Oakland Township in Pennsylvania near the present-day town of Susquehanna. This site is important to Latter-day Saints as the location where Joseph Smith received the Aaronic Priesthood at the hands of John the Baptist and, in a nearby location, received the Melchizedek Priesthood from Peter, James and John in 1829. These men appeared as angels to restore to the earth the same authority they had received from Jesus Christ. The site is also significant as the place where Joseph Smith translated much of the Book of Mormon. These events laid the foundation for the restoration of the original Church established by Christ Himself.

As the feedback to the post started rolling in, I was surprised to see how many different perspectives were being brought into the discussion. Some excellent and uplifting, others a bit “blind-man-ish.” What do I mean? The first reader read the post and said “This feels a weak analogy.” (Asking a young man why he hasn’t submitted his mission papers in is the religious equivalent of asking a woman how much she weighs.)

At the entrance, Richards explained how only Latter-day Saints who meet an "expectation of standards" and receive a "temple recommend" from their ecclesiastical leaders will be allowed to enter after the building is dedicated.

The Church has put the finishing touches on a new mixed-use community near the Mesa Arizona Temple. The project, called The Grove, is meant to revitalize the community and local economy in downtown Mesa.

INTRODUCTION: Early on a Sunday Morning in June of 1980, my wife and I left the King David Hotel in Jerusalem and made our way to the traditional site of the Garden Tomb near the Damascus Gate. The day was cool, the streets relatively empty. We were delighted to find the garden deserted. We had been there the day before with our tour group and found our time continually interrupted by others like ourselves seeking physical ties with the redemption of Christ.
