Prayer is powerful, but sometimes we take its power for granted or just don't believe its power can apply to us.

Maybe our prayers are not being answered not because of our lack of faith or lack of searching. Maybe they are not being answered because they can't be answered—at least not in the way we hoped.

"I could sit here and be depressed, but what good can come from that?" said Paul Moore, a 36-year-old father of two who learned he had over 40 tumors just last year. "I'm grateful for all that I've been blessed with. I feel love and support each and every day. Each and every day, I am humbled."

On Wednesday, February 21, Reverend Billy Graham passed away at the age of 99. USA Today and newspapers across the country are remembering Graham as the nation’s best-known Christian evangelist, a man who shaped faith in America for over 60 years.

"It was someone I was supposed to be able to trust. Someone who was supposed to protect me. . . . There never was a time I felt safe at home," Latter-day Saint Erin says in the new "His Grace" video "Living with the Pain of Childhood Abuse."

Jake Flannigan filmed every in-state basketball game played by Chicago's Simeon Career Academy during the 2011-12 season. He saw Simeon's star forward, Jabari Parker, score 40 points one day and block 12 shots another. But his lasting impression of Jabari was formed when the camera was off. After a home game in which Jabari barely missed a triple double, Flannigan, a producer at Comcast SportsNet Chicago, waited outside the locker room for an interview. Jabari never appeared. He had used another exit to return to the court for the jayvee game and was behind the bench passing out water. "The other varsity players were out in the hallway, talking to girls by the snack stand," says Flannigan. "The best player in the city was being the water boy for the jayvee. It's hard to root against a kid like that. He's on top of the world, but he's incredibly humble."

When my husband and I exited the interstate to Palmyra, New York, the first thing we saw was nature having its way with the earth. There were overgrown bushes and thick forests, but no towns, not even a farm, that human attempt to control chlorophyll. Then we saw a sign: pageant traffic ahead. Prepare to stop. Police directed us to a field-turned-parking lot with the vehicles of 6,000 pilgrims here for the Hill Cumorah Pageant, a 90-minute extravaganza chronicling the Book of Mormon. It stars a cast of 800 – all Latter Day Saints – a script composed by Orson Scott Card, music by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, and a 40-storey fire-and-water-spewing set.

“They killed him on a ruck march?” I heard myself say, almost as if I weren’t the one speaking.

President Henry B. Eyring encouraged Latter-day Saints to respond with faith and energy to the new house of the Lord.
