Remember to take a few minutes to step back and thank your Heavenly Father for the testimony and the blessings you do have. Then begin to try and build from where you are now, remembering to have patience with yourself.
You can take five minutes from your day to visit Helping in the Vineyard (vineyard.lds.org) to apply your skills and talents to a greater cause. This official Church website for online service provides opportunities we can accomplish from our homes or offices for five minutes or however long we have to devote.
This will undoubtedly be the hardest post I've ever written.
Despite the connection forged with Beck, Hosick wasn’t entirely sold on BYU until taking a visit to the program. As is somewhat the norm, he was inundated with tales of how weird BYU and Mormons are and how it was a place someone like him couldn’t feel comfortable.
I don’t know about you, but I had a “plan A” for my life. (Surely I am not the only girl who attempted to plan out her life.) I remember sitting around with some of my girlfriends one day when we were all in college. We were discussing my “plan A,” and that led to “plan B” ... which led me to think about “plan C.” I sort of wrote out my life plans and realized that I was already on “plan K.” (And this was a problem because I hadn’t even served a mission yet. By the time I went on my mission, I was beyond “plan K.”)
President Nelson issued an invitation in the October general women’s session inviting all to read the Book of Mormon by the end of the year. If you’re like me, the task may seem daunting, but with inspiration and creativity to guide us, we can reignite the fire of possibility to complete this goal.
My Mom hasn’t saved me from a burning building, though she may have paid my rent. But that is not why I love my Mom. I love her because of the little things she has always done for me. When I worked in the yard, there was almost always a cold glass of water or milk and cookies waiting for me when I went inside for a break. When I was doing the dishes, she would come up behind me, bump me aside and tell me to go read a certain article while she did my dishes for me. When I finished, we would have a long talk about all the neat things I had read. Turns out that small kindnesses have changed my life as much, if not more, than the windfalls I’ve been blessed with.
