He grew concerned about his status in the Church, about the patriarch’s lack of inspiration, and about the truth of the Church itself.

Did you know research has shown that people who can control their minds have the greatest success in life? In fact, mental strength is a stronger indicator of success than IQ or the economic status of the family one grows up in. So how do we develop mental strength and what does it have to do with faith? Today, we talk with Latter-day Saint Dr. Craig Manning, who has helped some of the greatest athletes in the world answer these questions.

During his first BYU devotional as the prophet, President Oaks encouraged us to focus on the Savior.

“You may have times when you wonder if your call is beyond you,” President Henry B. Eyring told recently called mission leaders. “You may even ask, ‘Is this too much for me?’ I have had such moments often in my service in the Lord’s kingdom. And I have learned how important it is to banish those moments quickly. If you let them linger, they grow, and then your power to serve diminishes."

When I was fourteen, I decided it was time I received my own testimony of the Book of Mormon. I began to read it, but as I read, I was filled with doubt about its truthfulness. I was frightened by my feelings, but I shared them with no one. One day after a particularly distressing day of reading, I decided to go into the willows by the river and pray until God gave me an answer. I begged God to take away the dark feelings and tell me if the Book of Mormon was true. “If you are really there and you love me, you will tell me,” I prayed. For hours I stayed in the willows. Night came on, and yet I continued to pray. This had worked for Enos, so I prayed and prayed. Finally, hungry and cold, I left the willows and went to bed. I heard no voice. I felt no lightening of my load. I received no witness, no calm burning in the heart. I had demanded an answer on my terms, according to my time line, corresponding to my needs. I had jumped from the pinnacle.

"Missionary service is the lifeblood for many churches across the nation, yet long and unpredictable visa delays are taking a toll on those who have answered the call to serve," Senator Orrin Hatch told the Deseret News after proposing a bill Wednesday that would help missionaries and volunteers of all faiths get their visas faster.

Those who have ventured out to a theater recently may have seen a trailer that reminded them of a place they once called home—the mission field.

While flipping through my study journals from the past year, I realized I may have been looking at Doctrine and Covenants 6:36 all wrong. Previously, I saw it as a verse with three commandments: 1) Look unto me, 2) doubt not, and 3) fear not. But I now I see an even more hopeful message.
