Melanie Thomas Bullock hails from the upbeat city of Orem, Utah and “can cook an egg on the sidewalk” Marana, Arizona. She spent some time in Maine where she met her hilarious and raucous husband Brent, who passed away suddenly 6 years ago. She has 3 amazingly fabulous daughters that bring joy to her soul. Because she has impeccable timing, she decided to enter the medical field a few short weeks before a worldwide pandemic. Melanie doesn’t do anything “easy.” She’s currently remodeling her home along with her 9-year-old daughter who loves swinging a sledgehammer, watching plumbing videos and laying floors. Melanie loves Del Taco, Jesus and Diet Coke. She also loves vacationing anywhere exotic (or wherever her budget takes her).
Here’s an interesting question: How many generations ago were your ancestors speaking a different language than you are now? When Dr. Joel Selway lost his mother when he was 12 years old, he also lost a tie to his Thai ancestry. But shortly before his mission he came across an old book about learning Thai, and something sparked inside of him. Little did he know then that he would embark on a decades-long journey to learn the Thai language and, in turn, discover more about his family history than he could have ever anticipated.
We wrapped up our Lift Up Your Heart events last weekend. It felt so uplifting to interact with women in our community. President Nelson asked us to “seek and expect miracles,” and because we’ve been focusing on the miracles of peace, joy, courage, faith, and hope, they’ve become more prevalent in our every day. A goal here at Magnify is to build our community, so in this episode, you'll hear podcast host Courtney Spencer and producer Sarah Collins grab soundbites from both audience members and Lift Up Your Heart speakers share how they're seeking and expecting miracles.
Among the many invitations President Russell M. Nelson extended in the October 2019 general conference, perhaps one of the most poignant ones was from his closing remarks, where he encouraged us to “immerse yourself in the glorious light of the Restoration.” Although change and hardship may seem impossible at times, we can press forward as we focus on the glorious light of the Restoration as the prophet has asked us to do.

Elder Stevenson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles shared a touching post on Facebook today about his visit with Florida shooting victim Maddy Wilford, including Maddy's message for the youth of the Church: "Tell them that I love them. Tell them that I'm going to be OK. And tell them how much I appreciate their prayers for me."
Two hundred deliveries to food pantries and charities in the state of New York are being donated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the first appearance of God the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ, in Palmyra, New York, to Joseph Smith, prophet and first president of the Church.
In this episode, we explore one of the ways that we can become better storytellers and better listeners through cultivating our holy curiosity. In honor of Black History Month, we revisit the faithful story of Isaac Thomas, a black Latter-day Saint who converted to the gospel in the 1970's despite the fact that he would be unable to hold the priesthood or participate fully in the restored gospel he loved. We'll also hear from Tamu Smith and Zandra Vranes, (aka the Sistas in Zion) who give us their tips for better ways to interact with one another across cultural divides.

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
