It’s seldom good news when the phone rings in the middle of the night. The call in the early morning hours of December 17, 2010 was no exception. I was sleeping soundly at home when around 3:00 a.m. I received a call from the Provo Police and Fire Dispatch Center informing me that the tabernacle was on fire. The Provo Tabernacle; no further description was needed.

On March 26, 2015 Vonda and her husband Matt had driven to the Payson temple to take some photos. She had just gotten her shot set up and had taken just a few photos when all of a sudden this random couple walks right into the middle of her shot. As she says in her own words, “I had seriously just gotten things set up, but rather than be disappointed I thought I’d take some pictures of their silhouettes that were being backlit by the temple lights because I thought it looked kind of cool.”
A small fire in a mechanical room in the LDS Conference Center led to water damage and flooding in the main auditorium Monday night. At 8:15 p.m., a fire triggered the sprinkler system in the mechanical room, which sits almost directly above the pulpit. Two sprinklers in the room put out the fire before firefighters arrived.

“Golden Days: A Celebration of Life” is the theme of the upcoming 85th birthday celebration for President Thomas S. Monson of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to be held at the Conference Center Friday, 17 August, at 8 p.m. Beloved Broadway selections and other favorites will be performed by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir, Orchestra at Temple Square and notable guest artists. “We are very pleased that talented solo artists will be joining the choir to honor this great man,” said choir president Mac Christensen. “I happen to know the songs being performed will delight President Monson.” Guest artists will be announced at a later date.
“I believe in a God who suffers with us. A God who promises us meaning out of our sorrow and who will stretch and deepen our hearts as we will let Him and that that is the meaning of all of this,” says David F. Holland, Harvard Divinity School professor and son of Elder Jeffrey R. Holland.
