The subjects of the new film say the director captures the miracles that Hawaii’s most popular tourist attraction generates in their lives.
Sitting between bookends atop a filing cabinet a few feet from my office is an assembly of books, all with the same title and content but each one rendered in a different language. “Le Livre de Mormon.” “Das Buch Mormon.” “El Libro de Mormón.” There are several in non-Latin scripts. Chinese in simplified characters. Russian in its Cyrillic. Japanese with its blend of ancient and modern alphabets. A few are in languages most people haven’t heard of. Quechua. Chamorro. Fante. The Book of Mormon-- translated fully or partly into more than a hundred languages and with 150 million copies in print to date - may be the most readily identifiable factor that sets members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints apart from other Christians.
My mother, Mildred Bennion Eyring, grew up in the farming community of Granger, Utah, USA. One of her brothers, Roy, followed the family business of raising sheep. As a young man he spent many weeks away from home. Over time he became less interested in the Church. Eventually he moved to Idaho, USA, married, and had three children. He died at the age of 34 when his wife was 28 years old and their children were small.
"The First Presidency invites Church members and their friends to participate in the First Presidency’s Christmas devotional broadcast on Sunday, December 3, 2017, at 6:00 p.m. mountain standard time," lds.org states.
For this weeks lesson I will use the scriptures in order to tackle some of the questions provided directly from the lesson manual. As always, I would suggest that you read the actual lesson. Study the section that begins on page 36 and read Doctrine and Covenants 1:17–19. What can we learn about service in the Church from Joseph Smith’s example? Think of a time when you were given an assignment from the Lord and did not feel qualified. How did the Lord help you? I will take each of these three verses in turn. While doing this, I will largely ignore the larger historical context behind these verses in order to answer the above questions. Doing this will allow me to apply the scriptures to our contemporary church service in a more succinct manner.
What a powerful reminder of how Heavenly Father sees us as His children.

Today, Harry Potter turned 38 years old. But despite his birthday on July 31, 1980, Harry Potter is timeless for millions around the world—including many Mormons who can't help but relate to the life of this brave, young wizard.
In the two most recent episodes of All In, host Erin Hallstrom sits down with Elder Bruce C. Hafen, General Authority emeritus, and his wife, Marie K. Hafen, to discuss their new book, Faith Is Not Blind. The book offers readers “a pattern for how to think about your questions and how, through grappling with them, to nourish your faith.”
Every Monday morning, I eagerly check Newsroom to see what temples will reopen in the coming week. I feel joy for my fellow Saints around the world as the sealing power is once again available in their country in the first phase of reopening. I marvel as I picture missionaries preparing to serve during a pandemic who have the opportunity to receive their endowment before their departure through temples in the second phase of reopening.
