The Book of Mormon contains the fullness of the everlasting Gospel the record of the ancient Nephites, translated by the Prophet Joseph Smith, by the gift and power of God in him—that we may come to a knowledge of the principles of the Gospel in simplicity and in purity. It makes clear many dark sayings of the Jewish Scriptures, as they have come down to us. It sheds a flood of light over the Bible; it contains the key of knowledge and understanding; and it is more precious than all the works of modern times, and is worth more, (Erastus Snow, Journal of Discourses, Vol.23, p.300 p.301, October 7, 1882).
