Taylor Ricks is a wife, mother of nine, author, behavior analyst, scripture enthusiast, and lead chaos coordinator. She has spent time as a foster parent and volunteering with the Utah Down Syndrome Foundation to help children and families touched by Down syndrome in honor of her son Zane, whose bright spirit blesses their family in unimaginable ways. When she isn't caring for her family, she enjoys writing, dabbling in wood-working, and going on walks. She attended Utah State University to earn a bachelor's degree in family studies and earned a master’s of education in applied behavior analysis from Arizona State University. Mark and Adria Taylor were both born and raised in the small town of Cardston, Alberta, Canada where Mark played sports with Adria’s little brothers and dreamed of one day dating their sister. Mark got his wish a whopping two days after Adria returned from her mission in Sydney, Australia, and they were married in the Cardston Temple a few months later. Mark had also served a mission, in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Paula Crnkovich Millington was born in Idaho to the best parents and family in the world. After she graduated from BYU (BS), she took a ministerial leave of absence from LDS Hospital to serve in the Kaohsiung Taiwan mission. Paula also received degrees from the University of Utah (M.Ed and Ph.D). Seven years after she returned from her mission in Taiwan, she met her husband, Jeff Millington, who served in the Taipei Taiwan mission. Paula recently retired from the University of Utah and she and Jeff are currently serving together as missionaries in the Taipei Taiwan mission. Paula loves the Savior and His gospel and takes so much comfort in the plan of redemption and her covenants, constantly recognizing tender mercies in her life. Faith! Family! Friends! Are her priorities. She loves chocolate (an understatement) and jigsaw puzzles and morning walks. Paula’s father’s parents (Crnković/Gasparac and Palijan/Krizmanić) are from Croatia and she and her siblings have been able to visit their grandparents’ birthplaces and meet Croatian cousins. It turns out they are pretty much related to everyone in both villages so family and friends have been busy doing temple work for every relative they can find. It’s a labor of love.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and other Utah community faith leaders called on the entire state Wednesday to “join with us in protecting Utah’s children and making their safety and well-being one of our highest priorities.”
The Deseret News and The Center for the Study of Elections and Democracy at Brigham Young University recently revealed the results of their 2018 American Family Survey. They surveyed 3,000 American adults of different demographics on marriage, family, parenting, politics, and other relevant topics concerning families in the United States.
God Reserved the High Privilege of Motherhood for Women
Love is one of the most profound emotions known to human beings. Most of us marry feeling that nothing could possibly separate us, believing that a celestial marriage will be perfect and easy—a happily ever after. Yet life is not that way and we face the harsh reality of conflict where our perfect happiness can be shattered. What will save our happily ever after is to realize is that life and marriage evolve in stages. Our marriage probably won’t ever be like it was at the beginning nor should it, because it could be something even better. Our purpose in marriage is to help each other meet the Savior, and our spouse can be our greatest purifying fire, our greatest teacher, and our greatest gift—if we will allow them to be.
