I have been able to speak at Utah State Prison 4 times now, (twice on the men’s side, twice on the women’s), and I am forever changed by it. I have been to some really incredible and beautiful places, meeting literally hundreds of great people a day. Tons of different stories and backgrounds and challenges and successes—all that have had some sort of impact on me, and yet when I went to the prison to speak March of 2013 it has still been my absolute favorite place I have ever been. I'll share a little bit of what I wrote in my personal journal in 2013 after my visit to the men’s side:

The event has become an opportunity to build good will between Church members and representatives of nations as they focus on common ideals of peace and love.

Because it’s now so much easier to communicate, Church leaders have encouraged members to use social networking to share the gospel. Elder David A. Bednar recently said, “It is no coincidence that FamilySearch and other tools have come forth at a time when young people are so familiar with a wide range of information and communication technologies. Your fingers have been trained to text and tweet to accelerate and advance the work of the Lord—not just to communicate quickly with your friends.”
