"All the ordinances necessary for salvation and exaltation are accompanied by covenants with God. “Making and keeping covenants means choosing to bind ourselves to our Father in Heaven and Jesus Christ,” said Linda K. Burton, Relief Society general president.
Due to the nature of the new lesson curriculum for youth, Come, Follow Me (and to low interest in our readership), LDS Living will no longer be providing weekly lesson supplements for Aaronic priesthood and Young Women lessons.
"Sometimes the world can seem like a really dark place," the LDS group TREN posted on Facebook. "And though we don't deny the bad, we also believe there is goodness and beauty to be found in this world if we look for it. This is the message behind our latest song 'Find Fantastic' inspired by Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them."
Picture in your mind, and it shouldn’t take much imagination, a young boy participating in the priesthood function of the Sacrament. He lowers his head during the prayers and then gleefully hands out the water and bread to the congregation. Just like what happens every Sunday, he returns to the cloth covered table and sets down the silver trays he passed around the room. There is nothing unusual about the actions.
The First Presidency has called the following new temple presidents and matrons. They will begin their service later this year.
The Foundation for Ancient Research and Mormon Studies (FARMS) was founded in 1979 with the goal of fostering and publishing first-rate, cutting edge scholarship on the Book of Mormon and related subjects. Those involved in it during its early years were excited about the light that new research could shed on Joseph Smith’s prophetic contributions, and firmly believed that such attention would, on the whole, strengthen and defend testimonies. The vision was to combine academic training and rigor with a commitment to serving ordinary members of the Church. “Never,” counseled one very senior Church leader, “forget the Relief Society sister in Parowan.” FARMS would be both scholarly and, for a particular kind of interested Latter-day Saint, practical, even inspiring.

We've heard them before. So-and-so's cousin was helped by three strangers he swears were the Three Nephites. Bigfoot is actually Cain. Or today's youths were generals in the war in heaven. Mormon myths and legends have become embedded in our culture, told around ward campfires, and discussed at FHEs. But they're just myths and legends, right?
On January 13, 2019, Elder and Sister Renlund will speak at a worldwide devotional for young adults focused on doubt and faith. "When is a time in your life that you have chosen to 'doubt not, but be believing?' There are times in both of our lives when we have had to rely heavily on our faith," the Renlunds shared on Facebook along with this video invitation:
Many families use the new year as an opportunity to review accomplishments, rededicate ourselves, and set new goals. But children who consistently set and then fail at their goals become discouraged and less likely to continue setting new goals. So while you may want to keep your resolutions, it’s crucial that your children keep their resolutions.
Last August I discovered a little cancer in my eye, ocular melanoma. For a week or so I was scanned and tested and faced the possibility of my imminent demise. Dramatic. Then I had my left eye removed, which rid me of the cancer but the wound did not heal. Months and followup surgeries later, my eye looks to be healing properly and I am cancer free. Lucky as I am, these months have given me plenty of time to ponder, to experience the shocking goodness and generosity of friends and strangers, and, despite adjusting to monocularity, time for recreational reading. This all created an appropriate scenario to pick up Mortality (2012) by the late Christopher Hitchens.
