The first temple built by the Latter-day Saints in the modern dispensation was in Kirtland, Ohio. It was the start of a long tradition of building and dedicating temples to the Lord. Since then, many other temples have been built, and some with the distinction of being the "first"—from the first to be built on a particular continent to the first to offer temple ordinances in a language. Here are a few more of those unique "firsts."
Thanksgiving has been expressed in acts of service by seven local congregations of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Throughout the fall hundreds of LDS members have either joined other organizations in support of planned projects or developed their own while inviting the community at large to lend a hand. Benefitting from these acts of service have been Keep Flower Mound Beautiful, multiple Red Cross local blood drives, PediPlace, CCA Food Pantry, and area homeless. Another project is planned for December 17th in aid of Hills and Hollows Boy Scout Camp.

I was fresh out of U.S. Air Force pilot training, struggling to find my place as the new guy in my first fighter squadron. All the other squadron members seemed so sure of themselves, full of energy and confidence. I wanted to fit in. I wanted to be part of the gang, a member of the club. I wanted my career to flourish. The last thing I wanted to do was make waves or highlight myself as a troublemaker. But it seemed that I couldn't escape it if I wanted to live my beliefs.
