A personal invitation to the '12 Days of Service'

When I was a child, my family practiced the 12 Days of Christmas tradition. No doubt many readers have too. The tradition takes many different forms. In our case, my father wrote clever stories for each of the 12 days and made accompanying, often elaborate, handmade gifts. Even now, the sometimes zany childhood drop-offs are etched in my mind as some of my favorite Christmas memories.

My marriage had many ups and downs, but I still found it easier to assume that I could rely on my husband to support our family while I primarily focused on parenting. Hundreds of Bountiful High graduates lined up to receive their diplomas at the Regional Center in Woods Cross on Friday, many of whom have already received their LDS mission assignments since the minimum age went from 19 to 18 for young men. As is the custom, graduating seniors wrote their names on a card to be read aloud as they crossed the stage. Apparently, dozens of young men added what appeared to be the place of their Mormon mission as a "middle name" – as in John "Russia" Doe and James "New York" Smith.

A LEGO model of the new Meridian Idaho Temple took Ryan Thompson, a Meridian local and software engineer, 80 hours to design and 20 hours to build, the Idaho Statesman reported. The model is a perfect replica of the new temple design, standing three feet tall, three feet wide, and three feet deep at 1/60th of the new temple's actual size.
