Elder Dallin H. Oaks to speak at BYU Commencement Exercises April 19

Elder Dallin H. Oaks of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and former president of Brigham Young University will be the speaker and presiding authority at the BYU April 2012 Commencement ceremonies Thursday, April 19, at 4 p.m. in the Marriott Center. The exercises will be conducted by Elder Cecil O. Samuelson, BYU president and emeritus General Authority of the Church. They will be joined on the stand by members of the BYU administration and other Church leaders.

World's Oldest LDS Chapel Celebrates 175th Anniversary

If by chapel you mean a religious meeting place designated as a “chapel,” then the Gadfield Elm chapel in Worcestershire, England, is the oldest Mormon chapel in the world. Built in 1836 by the United Brethren, the chapel became a Mormon centre in 1840 during Wilford Woodruff’s British mission. Local Mormons — whose restoration of the building and sacred myth-making centred thereon are interesting manifestations of Mormon localism — celebrated the 175th anniversary of the 1840 conference that established the Mormon church in their area.

Vocal Point out of the running on 'The Sing-off'

Despite convincing the judges that they could sing with soul, BYU's Vocal Point was voted off "The Sing-off" reality show Monday night. Adults to study Lorenzo Snow in 2013

After studying the teachings of George Albert Smith in 2012, adult members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will study President Lorenzo Snow’s life and teachings in 2013. Teachings of Presidents of the Church: Lorenzo Snow is the latest manual to be added to the Teachings of Presidents of the Church series, which is made up of manuals that focus on the teachings and sermons of a single prophet of the Church. It is studied during Relief Society and Melchizedek Priesthood meetings.
