Shortly after the special announcement by President Russell M. Nelson that we would now be “ministering” instead of “home teaching” and “visiting teaching,” a concern came over me that the words “minister” and “ministering” may become commonplace, no longer representing a depth of sacred spirituality. Those terms have always brought feelings of reverence and sacredness within me. In my mind, these terms represent the greatest of all ministers—our Savior—and His miraculous work. They were little scripture journals for them to write their thoughts in as they read the scriptures.
Arizona might have less symbolic importance than Michigan, but it is probably of more practical significance. That is because it’s one of the few Republican states to award its delegates on a truly winner-take-all basis, without any qualifications or complication. Get one more vote than your rivals in Arizona, and you take all 29 of its delegates.
President Dieter F. Uchtdorf, second counselor in the First Presidency of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons), threw out the first pitch at a recent Los Angeles Dodgers baseball game. In what has become an annual tradition, more than 8,000 Latter-day Saints enjoyed a nice evening at California’s Dodger Stadium for Mormon Night with the Dodgers. The more than 25-year tradition was continued Friday, 29 June 2012.
It’s the small things that over time create the happiest, most loving, eternal marriages. The Lord teaches this eternal principle that “by small and simple things are great things brought to pass” (Alma 37:6).
