Today’s the day. The Christmas decorations are back in storage (maybe?), the Times Square celebrations are over, and you’ve finished off the last drop of sparkling cider. 2014 is now a thing of the past.

At the first Face to Face event held in Asia, Elder Stevenson told the youth in attendance at the Manila MTC, "The covenant path is not a path for perfect people. The covenant path is for those who are trying to become perfect." He later added, "The gospel is a gospel of joy and it tries to teach us to be happy." Elder and Sister Stevenson continued to share their message of love and joy as they met with youth in Japan for another Face to Face event, and this time the apostle spoke in the native language of those in attendance.

In the aftermath of the deadliest fire in California history, members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are reaching out to those who need help.

The gospel was given to Adam and Eve when, “after many days” of sacrificing, “an angel of the Lord appeared unto Adam” and taught him the plan of salvation (Moses 5:6–9). Adam and Eve joyfully embraced it and taught it to their children (see Moses 5:10–12). But “Satan came among them, saying: . . . Believe it not; . . . and men began from that time forth to be carnal, sensual, and devilish” (Moses 5:13). The gospel entails a definite pattern or style of life best defined as the opposite of “carnal, sensual, and devilish.” One of the charges or responsibilities connected with adherence to the gospel is reiterated in the “Olive Leaf” revelation: “Organize yourselves; . . . establish a house, even a house of prayer. . . . Therefore, cease from all your light speeches, from all laughter, from all your lustful desires, from all your pride and light-mindedness, and from all your wicked doings” (D&C 88:119, 121).

What has been lacking for many members of the Church in their recovery attempts from pornography addiction is the proper clinical knowledge of how addictions can so easily develop in the brain, how their agency can be compromised, and then what to do about it in a practical, understandable way.

In a 5-4 decision that was publicized Friday morning, the Supreme Court of the United States of America made its decision in favor of same-sex marriage. This ruling will effectively make same-sex marriage legal throughout the country.
