With more Latter-day Saint women dotting the earth, Time Out For Women (TOFW) has launched a new website that brings the events to women who are otherwise not able to attend.

Without realizing it, I had tears streaming down my face. I’d been online looking at what my friends were up to, scrolling through their lives with amusement and curiosity. Many of them had recently returned from serving missions, and I found myself clicking through their pictures. With each new click came a new, quiet heartache. They were beautiful, these returned sisters. Their hair fell in curls around their black nametags, their arms were around their companions, and wide smiles were on their faces. Their pictures were filled with comments in all sorts of languages, discussions held by members and converts who loved them and missed them. “My mission was the best experience of my life,” they posted, “and I wish I could go back. I miss the people so much.”

Recently, ABC's Good Morning America featured children, choirs, and individuals singing along to the Beauty and the Beast classic, "Be Our Guest." Among the choirs was the world-famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Look out for them in this fun sing-along compilation.

I love news! There, it is out in the open. I have several news sites I visit at least once and sometimes multiple times a day to keep my fix. I was, for example overjoyed when I heard the news of a possible averting of all-out war in Syria. I pray daily for peace and speak to everyone I know to convince them of the futility of conflict and sin. The type of peace I attempt to sow in my corner of the country though is not that of a mere ceasefire or armistice by one or several nations, which lasts only until they find another reason to attempt to “stimulate” their respective economies via war, but the type given by the Master to His disciples in John 14:27:

I remember hearing everyone talking about “a burning in your bosom”, being miraculously healed, or getting a giant check after paying their tithing and would wonder “Why doesn’t that ever happen to me?” I had felt spiritual promptings, sure, but it never seemed like I had anything worth sharing. In Sunday School teachers would always ask us to share a time when you felt the Holy Ghost and everyone in class would have a miraculous story about how they were warned of danger or received a moment of clarifying revelation, but I didn’t even have a story about finding lost keys.

When the multimillion-dollar Teton Dam disaster struck Idaho in 1976, a force of 45,000 Latter-day Saints was deployed almost overnight to provide emergency relief. When Hurricane Katrina hit in 2005, Mormon relief trucks arrived before the National Guard was even allowing relief through. Massive oil spills in South Korea in late 2007 found hundreds of volunteers handling the disaster with plans, supplies and manpower within days. The 2010 Haitian earthquake catastrophe was met immediately with 160,000 pounds of food and emergency resources, and a month later, when a devastating earthquake hit Chile, an airlift of tents, tarps, supplies and even diapers was quickly deployed.The Church is interested in helping those in need become self-sufficient in the long term as well as meeting immediate needs. After the 2004 tsunami devastated Southeast Asia, LDS Humanitarian Services personnel were still working with community-based organizations to provide longer-term aid and development three years later.
