In response to news media requests, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has issued the following statement regarding the upcoming Broadway musical entitled The Book of Mormon: The production may attempt to entertain audiences for an evening, but the Book of Mormon as a volume of scripture will change people's lives forever by bringing them closer to Christ.
BibleVideos.LDS.org releases series of Easter-themed videos, adds e-card function
In the weeks leading up to April 8, 2012, BibleVideos.lds.org plans to release a series of Easter-related videos that relate stories from the Savior’s final weeks—from His triumphal entry into Jerusalem to His Crucifixion and Resurrection. The Easter-themed videos began with the January 23 release of Jesus Teaches about the Widow’s Mites, which was soon followed by Jesus Teaches a Samaritan Woman and The Parable of the Good Samaritan.

LDS Church offers new pass-along cards
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has produced new pass-along cards, which were distributed this month to subscribers of the Ensign and the English version of the Liahona magazine. A pdf version can also be printed online. Each card is designed with two portraits of church members featured on mormon.org along with the statement "I'm a Mormon." On the back of each card are three blank lines for leaving personal messages. There is also a QR code, which when scanned by a phone will lead to the mormon.org website.
Choir and Orchestra Recording Messiah for 2015 Release
The Choir and Orchestra presented a stunning Easter concert of Handel’s Messiah to a packed Tabernacle audience and overflow in three additional venues. The program was also viewed on the Choir’s web site and its YouTube channel as an Easter special—the first for such a Choir venture. The Salt Lake Tribune described the concert as a “rousing performance that brought Saturday’s unusually well-behaved audience to its feet cheering.”

Provo council rejects plan to curb MTC building
Residents living near the Mormon Missionary Training Center (MTC) didn’t get what they wanted Tuesday. The Municipal Council voted 4-3 to reject their proposal to require a conditional use permit for high-rise structures at places such as the training center, where The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is proposing to build a nine-story classroom building. But the council did agree to review the public facilities zone ordinance to address future controversies.
