A group of Washington County men will honor St. George native Jeffrey Holland for exemplifying the best qualities of manhood next week as part of the area’s Pioneer Day festivities. Holland has become one of the top leaders of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which has nearly 15 million members in more than 29,000 congregations worldwide. Prior to last year’s dedication of the Holland Centennial Commons building on Dixie State University’s campus, many residents shared reminiscences with The Spectrum about growing up with Holland’s years playing basketball and football, his eloquence and kindness to others, and his “neat-looking” car in high school.
