Jeremiah was an extraordinary prophet. Called to work with people though rampant apostasy and bitter opposition, he never faltered and rarely flinched throughout his ministry. His life and writings are exceptional treasures and worth a great investment of time and reflection. And the verses will require time and reflection because Jeremiah is distanced from us by language, idiom, circumstance, and translation. But your knowledge of the plan of salvation and the unchangeableness of God will sustain you. Pay a price and the results will be spectacular.
Many people keep a variety of herbal remedies on hand for home use. This is not intended to be an exhaustive treatise on the use of medicinal herbs, but rather a simple list of easy-to-obtain healing herbs and some of their uses. Some have found the following herbs and applications useful. All herbal medicines carry some degree of risk: they are, after all, medicines. Be wise in your use of them, do your research. Having some knowledge about these natural remedies may help in an emergency.
In today's society, social media, and news coverage, all we tend to see and focus on is divisions, arguments, controversies, disagreements, and comparisons. Commentators on both the right and left and both secular and religious note with disdain that Mormons (Latter Day Saints, as Mormons refer to themselves) have irrational practices and beliefs. The former, we are told, includes the wearing of sacred undergarments and the latter includes posthumous baptisms and the claims by the prophet of Mormonism to have found and deciphered engraved golden plates in New York State. I read and hear these dismissals of Mormonism with some amusement -- because everyone who makes these charges holds beliefs and/or practices that outsiders consider just as irrational.
It’s been a great month for Jewish-LDS relations in Los Angeles. Readers of this blog know of my firm belief that Mormons have a great deal to say to Jews, and vice versa. Judging from the turnout at three recent events, many other Mormons and Jews feel the same way. Last Sunday Jewish and Mormon leaders gathered at an LDS chapel in order to hear an inspired presentation on Mormons and the Holy Land given by Joe and Marilyn Bentley, who recently returned from 18 months of service as the Directors of Hosting and Outreach at the BYU Center in Jerusalem. The Bentleys have a great love for Israel and the Jewish people, and clearly enjoyed sharing interesting details of their assignment and of LDS involvement in the Holy Land for over 160 years.
“Because of Jasmine, Heavenly Father showed me that I do have talents,” LDS trainer CJ Jackson said. “A way I can use them to bless other people’s lives is through Jasmine.”
“She was so great, she wasn’t afraid to speak her mind, and she was brave, and she was kind, and she was so funny," Lindsey Jackson says of Kaylee Marvin, who died after a 100-foot fall. “She still is, up in heaven — loving horses, and camping and fishing,”
