Alma 17–22 is full of great missionary stories. Abish, Ammon, his brothers, and those they taught all learned about the nature of God through the power of the Holy Ghost. They were examples of belief, service, and most of all an example of being an instrument in the hands of the Lord to share His message.

Segment 1

Alma 20:4 (Through the Lord we can do all things)
Alma 18:4 (Christ has come to save us)
Esther 4:14 (Such a time as this)

Words of the General Authorities:
Speaking metaphorically, each missionary is a vital voice in the ‘choir’ of missionary service, each lending spirit and strength as they join in singing the song of redeeming love to a world in dire need of the redemptive power of Christ. (Marcus B. Nash, “How the Saturday afternoon general conference choir represents oneness of missionary service”, Church News 1 Oct 2022)

Segment 2

Mosiah 28:7 (Sons of Mosiah will be protected)
Alma 17:6-12 (Instruments in the hands of the Lord)
Alma 17:2 (Rejoicing and seeking diligently)

Words of the General Authorities:
Of course it’s hard. Everything to do with becoming more like the Savior is difficult…The Lord loves effort, because effort brings rewards that can’t come without it. (Russell M. Nelson, as recorded in “An Especially Noble Calling” by Joy D. Jones, April 2020 General Conference)

Segment 3

Alma 17:2,4,9, Mosiah 27:14,36 (Knowledge of the truth)
John 14:26 (The Holy Ghost brings truth to our remembrance)

Words of the General Authorities:
Contrary to the doubts of some, there really is such a thing as right and wrong. There really is absolute truth—eternal truth. One of the plagues of our day is that too few people know where to turn for truth. (Russell M. Nelson, “Pure Truth, Pure Doctrine, and Pure Revelation”, October 2021 General Conference)

Segment 4

Alma 18:24-29 (King Lamoni is introduced to God)
Alma 22:8-11 (Aaron teaches Lamoni’s father about God)

Words of the General Authorities:
God is in relentless pursuit of you. He “wants all of His children to choose to return to Him,” and He employs every possible measure to bring you back. (Patrick Kearon, “God’s Intent Is to Bring You Home”, April 2024 General Conference)

Segment 5

Alma 19:4-10 (The Queen believes)
Alma 19:16 (Abish)
Alma 22:19-25 (The whole household is converted)

Abish = Father is man

Words of the General Authorities:
The power of Abish’s conversion and testimony was instrumental in changing an entire society. The people who heard her testify became a people who “were converted unto the Lord, [and] never did fall away,” and their sons became the stripling warriors! (Elaine S. Dalton, “Love Her Mother”, October 2011 General Conference)

Segment 6

Alma 17:25 (Ammon starts with service)

Words of the General Authorities:
Whenever we show Christlike love toward our neighbor, we preach the gospel—even if we do not voice a single word. (Gary E. Stevenson, “Love, Share, Invite”, April 2022 General Conference)
