Just five months lapsed between the Season 1 and Season 2 release of the television series, “The Chosen,” about the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. Now, 16 months after the last episode of Season 2 aired, the first two episodes of Season 3 of the hit drama series will be available.
The show’s creator Dallas Jenkins posted on his Facebook earlier this month, “When is Season 3 coming out? … November 18, Episodes 1 & 2 back to back, only in theaters.”
As reported by Deseret News, the first two episodes of Season 3 will only be in theaters a short time before they are available on the show’s free streaming platform. The remaining six episodes will launch weekly on the apps in December, Jenkins said.
Tickets for the theatrical release of episodes 1 and 2 will go on sale for select theaters starting October 25.
In anticipation of Season 3, Jenkins wrote in the description for the new trailer, “Season Three picks up where Season Two left off … with Jesus delivering the most famous sermon in history. What follows are the consequences of living out his teachings. The world changes because of this sermon, and the believers in (and enemies of) Jesus increase exponentially. This creates confusion, chaos, and yes, doubt, and we don’t gloss over any of that in this season. I assure you, you're going to see some tough questions asked that you've no doubt experienced yourself. But ... He gives rest.”
Jenkins also mentioned that the cast and crew did not get to escape the major emotional themes of the sermons featured in Season 3 either. Between supply chain issues affecting construction and COVID delays, Jenkins said that “the making of Season 3 for sure made us weary and heavy-laden.”
But fans are eagerly awaiting the new episodes and excited for the emotional messages this new season will bring.
Laura S. said in the YouTube comments, “I can’t wait for the premiere! Just discovered this series recently and I’m sharing it with everyone I know. God bless you all who work so diligently on this project, in front of the cameras, behind the scenes, in offices and warehouses … we appreciate that you all contribute to this beautiful series.”
John Edgeworth commented, “There are no words that I could ever convey ... what meaning and impact it has had on me, and I am sure others. … I cry over and over watching the episodes and then going to my bible, to read more on the un-TV version. I cannot get over how much I have in my life, how much he has given me, how thankless I was and still am. … I do hope Dallas (and folks) understand the impact they are having.”
