The Tabernacle Choir Christmas concert is one of the most highly anticipated Christmas events in Salt Lake City. Free tickets for the concert are a hot commodity and typically sell out in a matter of minutes. But the Tabernacle Choir at Temple Square’s 360 singers haven’t been able to rehearse for months due to COVID-19, so will the show go on in 2020?
The choir’s general manager, Scott Barrick, told the Deseret News that a decision has not yet been made regarding this year’s concert.
“We’re still in the analysis phase and seeing what makes sense and what recommendations will be approved,” he said. “But we have options, and the choir will not disappoint.”
Barrick did confirm that last year’s Christmas concert featuring Broadway star Kelli O’Hara and “The Waltons” actor Richard Thomas will air on BYUtv and PBS this year although exact airdates have yet to be announced.
The Deseret News piece goes on to discuss how the choir has gained a stronger broadcast and digital presence during the pandemic. Read more here.
