At a young adult devotional in Davao, Philippines, last weekend, Elder Patrick Kearon shared a powerful testimony of the Savior’s infinite atoning sacrifice and the “glorious gift of repentance.”

“You are loved so much more than you can imagine,” Elder Kearon affirmed. “And to any of you who are thinking, ‘Not me,’ I would say particularly you—particularly you.”

You’re Never Beyond Heaven’s Love

Elder Kearon reminded the group that it’s impossible to make mistakes that would cause us to be unlovable in Christ’s eyes.

“If you think that you’ve blown it in some terrible way and that you’re now beyond the love of heaven or beyond anyone else, you are completely and utterly wrong,” he taught. “Yes, you’ve made mistakes. We all have. But He sent His Son to take your sins upon Him.

“And you’re thinking, ‘My sins? Really?’ Yes. Really. Wonderfully. Gloriously. Beautifully. Magnificently.”

Repentance as a ‘Beautiful Opportunity’ to Receive Relief

Elder Kearon acknowledged that many people in his generation grew up thinking of repentance as “something hard and difficult and heavy and cold and anxious.”

But those associations couldn’t be further from the truth. “It’s this beautiful opportunity to be relieved of our sins and mistakes,” he explained. “And if you’re still thinking, ‘No, not me,’ I want to say this to you: Don’t think that you have done something that is beyond the infinite atoning gift of our beloved Jesus Christ.”

Though Elder Kearon shared this testimony in the Philippines, his message of Christ’s personal reach is for all. As one Facebook user commented: “Thank you for sharing this wonderful message, as it pertains to every one of us in the world.”

“Elder Kearon, these posts lately are love notes straight from heaven,” another commented on Instagram.
