Four years after his passing, the legacy of Lindsey Stirling’s father, Stephen J. Stirling, continues to live on in his daughter’s music. Stirling learned that her dad was battling cancer as she simultaneously grieved the death of her bandmate and best friend, Jason “Gavi” Gaviati. Stirling’s newest song and music video, “Lose You Now (feat. Mako),” honors the memory of both her father and her friend.

Stirling bore testimony of angels on her Instagram as she announced the release of the video.

Lindsey Stirling - Lose You Now (feat. Mako)

“After my dad and best friend passed away, I was struck with the thought that not only are angels guiding me but I realized they LOVE me so, so powerfully. When I speak of angels—they aren’t random spirits. They are our ancestors, or our passed loved ones, and they understand us better than we understand ourselves. They will always come when you ask, and they will show up powerfully when you need it. If you’re ever facing a task that feels too great, ask your angels and God for help. You are never alone, and no task is too scary or too much if you know you’re surrounded by love and power,” Stirling wrote before concluding with a simple scripture reference: 2 Kings 6:16-17. Readers may recognize this as a reference to the story of Elisha and the chariots of fire:

“And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha."
