With All Your Light - by Blake Gillette and Brittney Bennett

“With all your light, you’ll chase away the shadows,” read the lyrics. “With all your light, you’ll pierce the deepest night. Even a single star can shine in the darkness. With all your light, believe in who you are.”

The song, written by Blake Gillette and Brittney Bennett, is especially for young women. The idea came to Bennett as she was preparing to be the stake camp director in 2020.

“She had this phrase rolling through her mind again and again as she thought how she might teach these beautiful young women to believe in themselves and feel the light within,” Gillette told LDS Living in an email. “The phrase was ‘With All Your Light.’  When she told me that phrase, like a bolt of lightning, I immediately had imagery, lyrics and music come into my mind. Within two days the lyrics and song were written from that conversation.”

And though girls camp was canceled due to COVID-19, Gillette and Bennett still wanted to record and share the song with the world. Masa Fukuda, the director of One Voice Children’s Choir, produced, recorded, and mixed the song.

“Grateful and so proud of these girls—some familiar faces from One Voice Children's Choir—for the way they continue to bless countless lives, including mine, with their musical gifts and selfless hearts,” Fukuda wrote on Facebook.

The video ends with a scripture from Doctrine and Covenants 88:50: “Then shall ye know that ye have seen me, that I am, and that I am the true light that is in you, and that you are in me” (emphasis added).
