Speaking in April 2002 general conference, President Dallin H. Oaks, then a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, said that “throughout my life I have been blessed by the doctrine and teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ. As taught in the scriptures and by the leaders and teachers of this Church, the gospel has been a light to my path and the impetus for my temporal and spiritual progress.”
We recently asked our social media followers, “What is your favorite thing about the gospel of Jesus Christ?” We received touching answers and felt inspired as we read the responses.
Responses have been edited for clarity and brevity.
“I think that my self-confidence is credited to the knowledge that Jesus knows me as an individual. I am most grateful for the records we have of Him interacting with individuals. I believe that if He feels such love toward every down-on-their-luck, disobedient, careworn individual in the New Testament, He surely feels that love for me. Because when am I not one of those things?”
“The peace and comfort in knowing I’m never alone.”
“Jesus. Everything that points to Him.”
“The hope it gives me.”
“Knowledge of the plan of salvation!”

“The love my Heavenly Father and Christ have for me. It helps me to respect others because they are loved that much too.”
“Knowing that Jesus loved me enough to save me and atoned for my sins. That through Him I have been able to overcome many things and be a better person. That His gospel is on the earth today and that He guides it through a living prophet today.”
“It breathes love, wisdom, and truth.”
“It’s always real, available, and full of hope! It’s for everyone and anyone, no matter where you’ve been or what you’ve done—it’s the whole package! But of course it is! It’s God’s way!”

Like President Oaks said, the doctrines and teachings of the gospel of Jesus Christ truly are blessings.
