In many ways, 2020 has been full of challenges. But while many of these challenges have been heartbreaking and full of sorrow, some have helped us to become better. Whether it was the outpouring of gratitude on social media after President Nelson's challenge in November or the millions of acts of services that have taken place during this year's Light the World campaign, good things have come out of 2020.

And to continue that trend as we head into 2021, here are three challenges from the Come, Follow Me podcast Sunday on Monday that will help keep our focus on Christ in the new year.

1. Write Your Final Testimony

There are few greater examples of faith than Moroni. After watching the entire destruction of his people, he was left alone to finish the Book of Mormon. But even after enduring unspeakable heartache and loneliness, Moroni left his testimony as a final, powerful witness of his beliefs.

27 And I exhort you to remember these things; for the time speedily cometh that ye shall know that I lie not, for ye shall see me at the bar of God; and the Lord God will say unto you: Did I not declare my words unto you, which were written by this man, like as one crying from the dead, yea, even as one speaking out of the dust? 34 And now I bid unto all, farewell. I soon go to rest in the paradise of God, until my spirit and body shall again reunite, and I am brought forth triumphant through the air, to meet you before the pleasing bar of the great Jehovah, the Eternal Judge of both quick and dead. Amen (Moroni 10: 27, 34).

As we move to the Doctrine and Covenants study next year, it's important to remember Moroni's faith and his messages for us. Write down what your final testimony would be and what you would want to leave behind for family and friends that would help strengthen their faith in the gospel.

2. Let God Prevail

In an October 2020 general conference address, President Nelson shared that the Hebraic translation for the word "Israel" is "let God prevail" and urged members to find ways that God can prevail in their lives (President Nelson, "Let God Prevail," October 2020 general conference, ChurchofJesusChrist.org).

Throughout the Book of Mormon, there have been examples of people who have let God prevail in their lives and those that have not. But finding even just one way to let God into our lives can lead to a better life. In the next few weeks, find something that you can more or less of that would lead to God prevailing in your life.

3. Remember and Nourish Others

At the end of 2020, many of us know what it means to be spiritually exhausted. But we can find renewal by remembering and nourishing each other. In fact, Moroni encouraged us to those very things in Moroni 6:4:

4 And after they had been received unto baptism, and were wrought upon and cleansed by the power of the Holy Ghost, they were numbered among the people of the church of Christ; and their names were taken, that they might be remembered and nourished by the good word of God, to keep them in the right way, to keep them continually watchful unto prayer, relying alone upon the merits of Christ, who was the author and the finisher of their faith (Moroni 6:4).

What better time to remember and nourish each other than now?

And as we head into 2021, we can take these and other helpful challenges with us to help make the new year better.
