When life feels heavy, reading a comforting scripture is one of the best ways to boost your spirits.
Here are three uplifting scriptures to encourage you.
1. For When Your Heart Aches
“The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart; and saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
“Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the Lord delivereth him out of them all.” (Psalm 34:18–19)
No matter our trials, we can find comfort in the Lord’s presence and hope through His deliverance. The Savior is close to us during our challenges, and He perfectly understands our unique struggles and circumstances. Because of Him, our pain can have purpose and be sanctified.
As Preach My Gospel states, “All that is unfair in life can be made right through the Atonement of Jesus Christ.”
2. For When You Feel Alone
“I have heard thy prayer, I have seen thy tears: behold, I will heal thee.” (2 Kings 20:5)
This verse reminds us that God hears every word we pray and witnesses each moment we cry. We are never alone in our suffering, and we can reach out to Him any time we need comfort.
He will heal us in His timing, and we can experience His divine power in our lives even as we wait for promised blessings. “Ultimately all will be healed, physically and emotionally, in Him,” President Camille N. Johnson taught. “And in the waiting for that healing, faith in the Master Healer will make us spiritually whole.”
3. For When You Feel Exhausted
“Cast thy burden upon the Lord, and he shall sustain thee.” (Psalm 55:22)
When your burdens feel like too much to bear, remember that the Lord can lighten your load.
His sustaining power can sometimes manifest in our lives as an added measure of energy, comfort, or hope. But most often, we can feel His strength through the love and support of other people. As Bishop Gérald Caussé explained, “The Lord’s compensating blessings often come through the kindness and service of others who help us accomplish what we cannot do on our own.”
